If the referendum is passed, Warren County will implement a property tax levy for $29.9 million over approximately 20 years. The tax rate will be $0.95/$1,000 and the table above shows the estimated tax amounts with rollbacks. A residence assesed at $100,000 would have $53.05 annually for example.
If the referendum fails, County reserves will be used until property tax increases are implemented to fund transportation and housing inmates out of county. We are currently transporting and housing an average over 40 inmates daily in other counties. Transportation is time consuming and expensive. We pay other counties fees to care for Warren County inmates which are subject to the costs of their jail operations which will increase.
